Walton Theatre Mosaic

A ceramic mosaic for the old Walton Theatre is embedded in the sidewalk in front of the Performing Arts Centre.

The Walton was once a popular movie theatre, then fell into disrepair and was revived in the 1980s to become part of the Striplin Performing Arts Center. Today, it's known as the Miss Kitty Theatre, named after longtime PAC director Kitty Windham.

Wow, does that bring back memories. My family lived in Selma for 7 years (we left in 1961). My brother and I spent many Saturday afternoons at the Walton....the Wilby too, of course!!

Hi Debbie,
Thanks for stopping by! You would love the "Walton" now. It is so beautifully refurbished and hosts many outstanding civic events. Too bad the Wilby burned. It was really unique.

Darn it! Your blog has somehow fallen off my "favorites" page.

I love these old mosaic signs. Too bad it has that big crack. But I guess that adds to the chracter.

Thanks for letting me know my blog has disappeared! I am checking on it. Must be some kind of technical glitch with CDPB.

I too lived in Selma in the late 50's.. as my father was posted at Craig AFB, and enjoyed many films at the Walton with my two brothers and friends. Joe
