Mums are In!

Chrysanthemums, just about my favorite potted flower of autumn, are in! I found a gardening center employee watering them yesterday and shot a photo. Soon, Selma's porch steps will be ablaze with potted mums and pumpkins.

I never really appreciated mums until recently. They aren't as popular up north for some reason.

As much as I love them, they always remind me of cemeteries...In Europe, we decorate the graves of our loved ones with chrysanthemums on All Souls Day.

Sorry I missed your 6 month celebration! Thanks for the peek into Selma and I hope to see a lot more!

That is interesting the way mums are used or not used elsewhere. I used them in my autumn wedding many years ago, and they are popular for homecoming football game corsages. Many, many yards decorate with them, and yes, they are used at funerals and cemeteries too!

Hm, I never had a special reaction to chrysanthemums, I don't know why. I like them from a distance and have never had any myself. On the matter of fall flowers, weirdly my nasturtiums and geraniums have gotten a second wind after languishing this summer (they were stressed because I had to move them in and out when our balcony got painted).
