The River...from Your Eyes Contest

Here's the Alabama River in "my eyes" catching a train crossing the trestle just east of downtown Selma. A local photography contest is giving generous cash prizes for the best photograph of this river or the Cahaba River in YOUR eyes, but time is wasting! Deadline is October 1. The contest is sponsored by Arts Revive, and photos will be displayed at Selma's Riverfront Market Day on October 13. The Real Estate Gallery on Broad Street has the details and is collecting the entries. (Check out the contest link above.) If you can't get to Selma to take a picture of the river, come on down for Market Day and Tale-Tellin. Both events are the same weekend, and I am looking forward to all these new photo possibilities!

Hello from Joensuu! And thank you for your visits my blog, I appreciate it.

Perhaps you don`t have so colorful autumn leaves, but you have the rich nature to photograph.

Your photos about a butterfly and spider are clear and extremely fine.

Those photos about cotton and cotton fields are very interesting to me, I have never seen them in nature and in person.

But something same we can find too, we use to buy also autumn chrysanthemums to potteries :)

Happy days to you and your family!

The photo is beautiful but I would be afraid of crossing the bridge. I think it reminds me of the bridge in Minneapolis...

Your cheer leading really gives excitement to the photo contest. If I could make it, I think I would be at the story-tellin.

Hello all. Thanks for your kind comments. I posted the photo as kind of a promo, but I'm not entering the contest, although I will be helping out at the Market Day gate. I expect there will be lots of great pictures much better than this one!

Good luck, Rambling. Take boodles of photos of the river till you get the one you think is perfect (if you decide against this beauty) and see if you can win, win, win!

What great timing you had, to catch the train as it started to cross the river! I hope the contest gets lots of entries!

Sounds like a fun contest to enter this photo. Seems peaceful, the train seems as though it slowly lumbers on.
