The cheapest drink in town?No, it isn't Koolaid or some inexpensive wine. It's plain old tap water straight from the tanks of Selma Water Works.
The city has six wells and the capacity to pump 8 million gallons per day while average usage is about half that amount.

There you go. Nice shot. The water tower and the slogan on it are nice.
We used to have our own wells but now buy water from nearby Dayton, Ohio. We gave up that part of our independence and there are some who think it was a mistake. And there is talk about bringing back our own again.

Thank you for your comments. When I was a child, we never even thought about the possibility of a water shortage. Now, in many places it is real. I have friends who live near Atlanta, and there are so many people and so much more development that water usage is rationed often.

Selma, NC gets it water from deep wells. During a water shortage we can purchase water form Smithfield. They pump from the neuse river.

Selma aside, I love this photograph for photography's sake.
The slogan alone makes it fantastic, and the tones of green are just... they pull you into the photo. Really- nice work here.

I didn't take this picture for a while, because I didn't like the industrial green color of the water tank. Then, while I too liked the clever slogan, that shade of green made me hold it until I was running low on photos!
