Interesting, Abe. I just assumed that pine straw was shipped everywhere to be used as mulch. We have so many pine trees in this area that we can just go rake it, but Lowe's and Home Depot sale tons of it. We don't grow much wheat here.
I love Sturdivant Hall! It is the epitome of a Southern mansion. I enjoyed our tour of that home more than I have enjoyed any other tour of the many historic homes that I have been in. I would credit that to the beautiful place itself but also to the fabulous job that the docents did. It was evident that they enjoyed their job very much.

Pine straw mulch is seldom seen up here and most places do not carry it.I think it looks nice and at first thought it was regular wheat straw.
Looks as though landscaping is a serious concern at that residence. Beautiful! The mulch is a great color, too.

Kate, it is! But this is now a city-owned house museum rather than a private residence.
