Central Alabama had some rough weather last week as 11 tornadoes
were responsible for significant property damage and at least two deaths.
Here are our skies (above) later that day,and we were fortunate.
The worst stormswere well north of us. HOWEVER, it is just early February,
and severe spring weather arrived weeks too early.
So, I wasn't surprised that Selmians took advantage of WSFA-TV's visit
to town on Thursday to program weather alert radios (below).
More than 400 radios were programmed with about half of those
being new purchases at Walgreens.

Oh, that sky is gorgeous! I thought that it was from last night's sunset, which was spectacular! I am so glad that the tornadoes didn't hit Selma. I am wondering what Maplesville will look like the next time I go through it. Very sad. I like that tiny town.
Rachel, one of my sons drove through Maplesville the day the tornado, and he said there is a lot of damage through town and on 139. But there's more damage along and off Highway 82. The town fortunately has a large storm shelter which was opened before the storm hit.
i didn't hear about the tornadoes...scary stuff....what a gorgeous sky that is!
Alabama has had their quota of bad weather already. I've never seen those gadgets, but they appear to be pretty handy for the future!
We've got spring weather here too! Your storm clouds breaking up sure resulted in pretty skies. I hope the tornadoes stay away!
It seems like the sky is always more beautiful after a storm. Maybe I just appreciate it more.
I know what you mean, Meghan. When the sun comes out behind the dark cloud, the sky just glows.
Beautiful sky.
Regards and best wishes
You must be happy that there is Walgreens! Hope you are safe?
Nice skywatch photo. And SUPER header photo... looks like a postcard.
A truly lovely shot of the sky!
The sky is gorgeous but sad to hear about the tornadoes. I am glad you were safe. Great capture!
