Jan. 1 Theme Day, Best Photo of 2007

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

It's Theme Day, and my family said "By the Still Water" was the Best Photo of 2007 for the Selma, Ala. Daily Photo. I have to agree, although this picture was actually taken in Marion Junction about 15 miles west of Selma. The photo was posted May 6, and some commenters said it looked like a painting. I took the photo in late evening with a Nikon D70S, no flash, 55 mm focal length, .005s exposure at f7.1 and 1/200 second. It was made at an outdoor wedding reception.
Other photos that I chose for the Selma blog's Best of 2007 are "Goldenrod," posted Oct. 4, "Caught!" posted Oct. 11, "Bird Bath?" posted April 9, "The Running of the Cows," June 26, "Courtyard Fountain" on May 26, "By the Bridge" on July 15 and "Moo at the Zoo" Oct. 5.

Please visit all the other cities' Best Photos of 2007. They are really fantastic!

Makes me think warm thoughts of a summer past. Nice timeless image . . . I like that you chose by "family vote".

Beautiful!

I couldn't decide and am leaving it up to the votes. I narrowed my down to seven. Yikes! Hate to say I just couldn't pick one. Come take a look and put your vote in.

There is a freshness to this so happy photograph. I just love her. Adore the colours.

How you chose tho, I can't imagine. You post beautiful photos. I loved yesterday's spider the cat the day before. Perhaps the cat ate the spider!

Wishing you a very happy New Year, Rambling Round.

It does look like a painting. I would love to hang my legs over the end of the dock in the summer.

There is much to enjoy in this photo: both vertical and horizontal lines and colour. I esp like how the dainty flowers softens the rigid lines of the posts. Great choice. I also like the whimsy of the mood at the zoo.

I've enjoyed viewing your favorites for 2007. In the one you picked as "best" it looks like the trees are trying to come down and meet the flowers. It is a very beautiful photo. Your "by the bridge" link didn't work for me.

Happy New Year!

I love this photo! It's so refreshing and peaceful at the same time. I can see myself with the flowers reading a book.

I look forward to visiting your blog more often this 2008. And you're welcome to mine, too! For some reason, my link was not included in the participating blogs for the 1st of January 2008 theme day. Sorry I wasn't able to visit your blog sooner. I was in transit the whole of yesterday. I am now back in Norwich after the most fantabulous time at home in Manila.

Happy New Year to you and everyone you hold dear!
