Head down these steps on your journey to the bank of the Alabama River at Bridge to Freedom Memorial Park across the Pettus Bridge in Selmont. There are plaques along the way honoring and memorializing leaders in the Civil Rights Movement.
(Note: At times, this area is very grown up, but it makes a nice, short stroll when kept up.)

I bet it does make for a nice walk - the boardwalk is really pretty, not to mention the hanging trees!
Lovely photo. Is that Spanish moss hanging from the trees?
Looks like a place for a nice early morning walk.
I love riverwalks - I guess I need to visit Selma and walk yours. Pappy
Thanks for your comments.
Yes, that is Spanish Moss hanging from the trees, and while this path is a walk to the river, the view isn't the best. However, plans are underway for a scenic riverwalk on the Selma side of the river.
I like the sound of the Freedom Path!
