The Yankees are Coming!

Get the fortifications ready, because I do declare, the Yankees are coming!

That's not exactly an April Fool's joke, because on this day in 1865, Union Gen. J.H. Wilson's troops skirmished with what was left of Confederate Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest's troops just north of Selma. Forrest was wounded by a Yankee sword but shot the soldier dead. In this photo, the Battle of Selma Committee is rebuilding fortifications for the 20th reenactment. So, the "Yankees" really are coming for a friendly "virtual reality" history lesson.
