April and Azaleas

If it's April in Selma, then there must be azaleas. Looking down an Old Town street, this yard and many others are banked with the showy flower. But watch out! A freeze may be coming this weekend. Glad I have already caught most of the Spring Show on camera.

This street just screams "Alabama" to me! Truly lovely...

Those flowers "are" the south as I remember seeing them on a trip to Savannah. Wow. Your photos are nice. I like them a lot.

Jack Russell terriers are smart. I failed to mention in the post about Puppy Dog that Tiger learned sentences somehow. I could stand and be talking to a neighbor and would tell the neighbor that I am going to tell Tiger to go get something. Without looking at the dog I would say, "Tiger, go get your sock!"

The neighbor would snicker, but Tiger would go to the sliding screen door and bark to be let inside the house. Then he would go to his toy box and get the sock. Then he would go to the door and bark to get back out with the sock. And he would proudly come up and wait for me to take the sock.

Now, the neighbor wouldn't believe it and stood there and saw the whole thing. I just don't know how this dog was able to understand sentences like that or words like he did.

Our last dog was a Toy Fox Terrier, and we had her for 13 years. She was named, Autumn Eve. A magnificent dog who kept me going when I didn't want to go. I had aortic aneurysm surgery and that is a horrible surgery and when I got home, finally I just wanted to sit in my chair and not move. She, on the other hand, was used to "us" taking a half mile walk, and she wanted "us" to continue taking them.

And thanks to her, we did.

Thanks for coming by.

Great picture - I like the way you compose the shot. The azaleas are blooming in Selma, North Carolina, hope the twenty degree temp on Saturday does not damage them.
I love red flowers.

Hey y'all.
Thanks for the nice comments. Very encouraging as I learned everything I know about photography working as a newspaper reporter. Took one course in college with an old twin lens reflex that you had to look down into the viewfinder and the picture was upside down...then had a manual 35mm K1000 Pentax for a couple of decades that was serviceable.
Newspaper staff photographers always had the wonderful creative shots while the rest of us just did the best we could!
Now that I have a good digital (still learning to use), I am working on getting better, especially the composition. I can't hold a candle to most of you, but you are all great mentors. I am studying all your pictures!

Isabella, we have lots of streets in this town that "scream Alabama." Thing is, the Spanish Moss ends just north of the city limits. I grew up in a nearby town that had tons of azaleas but NO Spanish Moss. Seems it starts in Selma and keeps growing South!

Abraham, I have plenty more photos that I took last week - enough to keep this daily photo thing supplied for at least a year!
Enjoyed the stories about your dogs. I became a dog person after marriage...was already a cat person. Our JRT won all of us over, and we still miss him.

Lewis, 20 degrees! Ugh! Supposed to hit 32 here Easter morning. So maybe I will get to do an Easter frost photo! Always turns cold at Easter, and I am glad we didn't plant our garden yet. Next week, for sure..
