Cold Day in Lafayette Park

BRRRRR! Monday brought out gloves, hats and scarves, and Old Glory waved all day! I think you can see how cold it is as evidenced by this view from Lafayette Park. The Arctic blast will linger through the weekend, and we could have highs that stay below freezing for a few days later this week. Weather forecasters encourage everyone to wrap pipes, bring pets inside or at least provide outdoor shelter and check on the elderly.

Brrrr!!! It does look cold out. When we get extreme cold here we also call it an Arctic Blast. MB

I guess we call it that because that's what the weather folks call it! Sometimes if it's moving in quickly, they call it an Arctic Clipper. This morning, they said this is the longest spell of cold weather we've had in 25 years. Just a few years ago, we had the worse drought in half a century!

Well, I'd rather be there than here!

(We won't mention the two feet of snow we had driving back from New York, the howling winds, the lack of visibility, the closed highways!)

It's probably global warming!! It causes weather irregularities by messing with wind patterns etc.

Hope it warms up soon! :-D

I'm beginning to think that no matter how weird the weather behaves that "Global Warming" gets the blame or should that be the "credit!" Whatever, I just hope it snows for the third year in a row, and that would be another rare weather stat.

I just checked your temperature and it really is cold for Selma! I hope some warm air arrives soon.

Looks like Ocala these days. I hate it! Ugh! Our high today was about 44 and it's supposed to go down to 23 tonight and it's just plain awful!

I thought such weather was against the law in Florida!

Gosh, Jacob, y'all are having about what we're having here except we might get down to single digits this weekend. It's a battle to keep the faucets dripping and pipes from freezing in weather like that! Of course, the citrus farmers down your way have to work 24-7 during those hard freezes too.
