Late Afternoon (Skywatch Friday)

The late afternoon sun shines brightly against the red bricks of Church Street United Methodist Church. Built in 1901 after an 1899 wind storm toppled the steeple into the sanctuary, this structure has undergone several renovations. It is located at Dallas Avenue and Church Street on an acre of land set aside for churches by the Selma Land Company in 1817. The first wooden structure was built here in 1835.

The light color striking the church is almost yellow. I like the overall picture and effect but not sure about the yellow color.

That's my favourite time of day. I love to sit on my porch and watch the clarity of the light bring out the details in everything. Your church picture really captures it well. I chose a solar halo for my contribution. I invite you to come see. -- Margy

I didn't even have to read to know that that was evening light--I always love evening light. To me it gives photos a magical glow almost.

With the special light and the smoothness of the bricks, the church looks almost unreal. Interesting effect. It has quite a history.
I enjoyed your other posts, down a bit and up, too.

Oh my, that beautiful light condition really does show off the bricks and structure of the building. It is great fun to see what nature pulls out of it's paint box for us.

Thanks for sharing your peek of the sky in Sky Watch Friday. The angle of light in different parts of the world is interpretted by everyone in differnt ways.
