Skywatch Friday (Battle Skies)

It's Skywatch Friday, and Southern belles anxiously watch the action as skies above the battlefield fill with smoke. The Battle of Selma reenactment was held last weekend and gave attendees an authentic demonstration of American Civil War battle tactics, fashion and lifestyle. The reenactment is held at Riverside Park where many soldiers in the actual 1865 battle fled or even swam across the Alabama River to escape.

Dear Miss Selma ,
It was very enjoyable meeting and speaking to you for a few moments at the Battle of Selma . Andy ( my 16 year old partner ) , would enjoy seeing a photo of BATTLEFIELD BALLADEERS to use to impress the girls at home . Your photos are superb !

Very nice. I love the Southern Belles but i am glad we don't have to dress like that. MB

I appreciate all your visits and comments. The Battle of Selma lends excellent photo opportunities as well as history lessons!

Jubilo, I was glad to meet the "Yankee" who sings and plays some of our "Lost Cause" songs. But, then it was a Yankee who wrote "Dixie" as well as "Old Dan Tucker!" I have that photo waiting to post.

Thanks for visiting.

My husband is a Civil War buff, and he has brought me and our daughter to many re-enactments. These historians do a good job of reminding us of what struggle is all about. This is a great photo. God bless.

Greetings from Nashville!
I wanted to let you know I stopped by and have been enjoying your photos!

Please excuse that I'm cutting and pasting this comment, but since my right arm (my writing arm!) is still in a sling, typing is pretty difficult, so I really haven't been able to make comments.

Have a great weekend!
Chris

I'm sure in Selma General Forrest wins. Nice photo. Yeeee Haaaaw! That's a Rebel yell in case you couldn't tell.

Hi there, Texican!
Oh no, no, no! This is history re-enacted! The Yankees win yet again! While the reenactors try to be as authentic as possible, in this case, there just aren't enough equine reenactors to constitute the cavalries on both sides, so they have to add more infantry.
Thanks for visiting.
