The Pumpkins' Gate

Five little pumpkins sitting on a gate;
The first one said, "My it's getting late."
The second one said, "There are witches in the air."
The third one said, "But we don't care."
The fourth one said, "Let's run and run and run."
The fifth one said, "It's Halloween fun."
"Wooooooo" went the wind,
And out went the lights.
These five little pumpkins ran out of sight.

Fingerplay directions:
Hold up five fingers and bend them down one at a time as the verse progresses.
Line 7: Swoosh hand through the air.
Line 8: Clap hands on "out"
Line 9: Place hands behind back.

My children learned the "Five Little Pumpkins" fingerplay verse in preschool, and these 

pumpkins (way more than five!) are on display at St. Paul's Episcopal pumpkin patch.

Carter's Fall Display

Continuing with Selma's downtown autumn decorations, we arrive at Carter Drug Co. and its cute, colorful window boxes. Click on the photo for a larger version and notice the pumpkin stands near the entrance.

Selma City Hall is sporting the look of fall today. Cornshucks and ribbons adorn the posts to let us know that autumn really is here, and finally the cool temperatures are letting us breathe easy again!

Not a Scary Scarecrow

Ah, this friendly scarecrow is plopped upon a bench on the porch at the St. Edmund Learning Center. He welcomes children at the after-school program located on Minter Avenue.

Jack-o-Lantern Baskets

Here's a cute idea for fall decorations...put your jack-o-lantern in a basket.

Then, when Halloween is over, these vine creations will still be a unique addition for a porch or patio...or Christmas decorations. These baskets were for sale at Riverfront Market Day.
