The City Daily Photo Blogs are featuring fountains for the February Theme Day, and while I've posted photos of Selma's municipal fountain several times, here it is again! The fountain flows in a pleasant little park between City Hall and the public library. So come on down, sit a spell and listen to the music of the fountain. In a few weeks, I bet some birds will tune right in as well!

Summer Blues (Skywatch Friday)
Skies above the library courtyard were blue, blue, blue on Wednesday. The crepe myrtles are just beginning to bloom, and while I sat on a bench for all of five minutes, birds took turns splashing in the fountain (that photo will be another day).Visit more Skywatch photos over at Wigger's World.

Sturdivant Hall Courtyard
The back courtyard at Sturdivant Hall is attractive any time of year but especially in the spring and summer when flowers and herbs bloom in formal gardens. This outdoor area is often used for weddings, receptions and picnics and has been the site of the Battle of Selma Ball that is held during the reenactment.

Courtyard Fountain

A steady trickle of water in the courtyard fountain of the Selma/Dallas County Public Library creates a relaxing atmosphere for visitors who might want to rest upon one of the benches. Some choose to make a wish here. Looking through the fountain, you can see the children's wing of the library. The wrought-iron grillwork is in keeping with the municipal complex's southern-inspired architecture.
