Feast

The other day, I posted a female cardinal in a photo by Elaine Stewart. Today, here's her version of the male redbird, feasting at a feeder.

This is a common sight in winter, and even though it's hard to catch these beautiful critters perfectly still, I thought his pose was striking considering he was eating dinner at the time!
Many thanks, Elaine!

It's a great picture! I get alot of them out in my yard too and they are very hard to photograph. By the time I grab the camera, they've moved away, I focus on where they are, they move again, lol.
Have you read Red Bird Christmas by Fannie Flagg? It's a great story :)

Gorgeous capture. I'm not good at critters so I can really appreciate this one.

Beautiful photo. We have a pair that live in a nearby tree, but I can never manage to capture them on film - or memory chip!

Happy 2009 - wishing you all the best in the new year.

That is a great shot. I just love Cardinals--I suppose it is because we don't have them out here and I have never seen one in real life. So I enjoy your picture. MB

It's amazing to see such colorful birds. We don't get them in our part of the world, I'm sooo jealous!

I've not seen cardinals here in a while. They just seemed to vanish. Beautiful shot!
