Caught (Camera Critters)

It's that time of year again when garden spiders are weaving webs and catching prey. This spider is securing a beetle. We counted six such spiders and webs in our hydrangea bush.
More critters are just a click away!

I see many other commentors share my shivers at such a marco of a spider! But what about that weird chain of Z's?? I have never seen such a thing in a web, and believe me, we have tons of spiders where I live (more shudders). It's like her spinnerets went into sudden overdrive! Or maybe she repaired a tear with a sewing maching instead?? Well, really neat whatever it is!
