Bottle Tree Orchard

Bottle Tree Bob of Marbury, Alabama, brought a whole orchard of bottle trees to the Riverview Arts and Crafts Festival. While some people once thought that bottle trees would keep away evil spirits, today they have become a popular garden sculpture. How 'bout those haint-blue bottles? Check out the bottle tree I posted at Picket Fences here in Selma.

I think they are so pretty. There is a nice one up the road a bit, that I always like to look at, and I've thought of stopping for a picture, but it's off a somewhat busy highway so I've never pulled over.

Looks like a mini forest of bottle trees.

I love bottle trees, so colorful. I remember once someone called into MPB's local gardening radio show (The Gestalt Gardener) and asked what bottle trees look like. He had heard people talking about them so much that he thought it was an actual tree! I think he felt sort of silly when Felder Rushing (our local gardening guru) explained it to him.

Very cool. But where do you get bottles like that? The colors are fantastic.

How cool we posted on the same day! I love the reds of yours -- and I enjoyed looking at Bottle Bob's web site! Thanks for the link. :) I want to create one in my yard...:)

These are great. A good way to recycle and a very unusual feature for gardens.

Oh how beautiful!

Are they recycled? or the bottles are purpose made for it?

I remember reading about bottle trees in some magazine, but I've still never actually seen one. 'Round here, I think the garden sculptures of choice are standard gazing balls and gnomes.

Are these recycled? It's pretty unusual to have see such a bright variety of color in utilitarian bottles, isn't it?

Anyway--beautiful! :D
