Marble, the Decoration

Marble is one of the dogs featured on Sky Hill Animal Society's Christmas tree at the Selma Riverwalk. Numerous businesses and organizations decorated trees, and they can be seen along the walk and even from the Pettus Bridge as vehicles drive into downtown.

Children, adults and a dog enjoy a chilly day in  Riverfront Park one day

 last week. The new playground is aptly named Butterfly Park

 as  Selma is the Butterfly Capital of Alabama.

The Grass is Greener in January

It's January, and look how green!

It's not just the amphitheatre and riverwalk, either.

 Green grass is everywhere, even alongside our roads.

 Several inches of rain and warmth in December

 lulled us into a springlike winter, which surely will leave us soon!

Skateboarding along the Riverwalk

The riverwalk was quiet a few days ago except for a young twosome
trying out their skateboards.If you look closely in the upper right corner 
of the photo, the railroad trestle across the river is visible behind the trees.

August Theme Day, Street Lamps

It's August Theme Day over at City Daily Photo, and we are posting images

 of street lamps around the world. Here's one of Selma's newest, a street lamp

 along the recently completed riverwalk. As you can tell, this was another cloudy day,

 but it made for a more dramatic view of the railroad trestle and river.

Walk through this ornate, iron gate at Grumbles Alley, and you will find steps that lead 

down to the riverwalk. In the background is the Edmund Pettus Bridge.

Leaning Tree

Trees along the upper bank of Selma's riverwalk were removed this week, and kudzu will come out too. 

Plans are to plant the upper bank with grass, but I was assured that there will be some shade along the walk.
