Washington Street Supermarket

They don't make supermarkets like this anymore! The Washington Street Supermarket has been downtown since long before I moved to Selma, and it remains a popular place to shop for groceries and perhaps rest on the bench and have a soft drink.

The large market may have the "goods" but these smaller markets have the character of days gone by...and often one sees a few characters in them, too!

You sure got that right...I do live in a small town and the local IGA still has that hometown feel as far as personel....it is mostly kids that are cashiers but they are just sooooo nice. And can still get help...but it still does not have quite the smell that old time grocery stores had.
