Snow Birds

Since we refilled the bird feeders, cardinals have come out of the woods to share meals and have a big reunion.

Here, they brave the "Great Valentine's Weekend Snowstorm" which lasted off and on for several hours last Friday. We had about two inches precipitation and an inch accumulation. It was all gone by Friday evening since temperatures were kind to us and hovered just above freezing.

Snow Angels, ETC

After a weekend of stormy weather, God smiled on Selma and vicinity with a brief treat to snow!

Amounts varied from a dusting in Old Live Oak Cemetery, where this angel points to the Creator, to two inches at my house and perhaps a little more further north.

In the picture at left, cardinals come out to enjoy the feast at their feeder, and below, fluffy snowflakes combine to form "cotton bolls" on the shrubbery.

Winter Scene (Camera Critters)

Winter in Selma...red cardinals against bare, gray limbs.

Just hang a bird feeder near a window. Fill it with songbird food. Bring the cats inside, and enjoy the view!

Feast

The other day, I posted a female cardinal in a photo by Elaine Stewart. Today, here's her version of the male redbird, feasting at a feeder.

This is a common sight in winter, and even though it's hard to catch these beautiful critters perfectly still, I thought his pose was striking considering he was eating dinner at the time!
Many thanks, Elaine!
