At the Top

Selma has enjoyed blue skies, flowering Japanese Magnolia

 and spring temperatures this past week, and here is a peek

 at the top of Sturdivant Hall. What a magnificent view 

that must be looking down! The antebellum Greek Revival house

 museum is located in Old Town Selma.

Come for the History

The Old Depot Museum easily fulfills Selma's slogan,

 "Come for the history. Stay for the hospitality!"

It contains relics of days gone by in Selma and the Black Belt,

 including antebellum, women's suffrage, Depression era,

 black voting rights, agricultural, firefighters' museum, railroad,

 area industries, education and much, much more!

The museum is one of several that will be open during this weekend's

 41st Historic Selma Pilgrimage. Hours are 9 a.m. til 4 p.m.

 both Friday and Saturday. Museum tours are included in the daytime 

and package tickets or can be toured separately for only $5.  

Dinnerware, Hospital Style!

So, who has been a hospital patient and had dinnerware like this?

Real china and stainless steel serving pieces haven't been around (as far as I know) for a long, long time. This dinnerware is an exhibit in the Vaughan-Smitherman Museum's hospital section and was used in the mid-20th Century.

I suppose it isn't as sanitary as paper and plastic, but it sure looks nice!
