Season for Mardis Gras

Fat Tuesday isn't until Feb. 28, but the Mardis Gras celebrations down south

 in Mobile begin this weekend. And while Selma isn't particularly known

 for this event, there are a few places around here that decorate.

 These homeowners have quite the colorful touch!

The Ultimate Mardi Gras Wreath

Beads, baubles, jesters, masks and drapery tassels?

This front-door wreath has a little of everything that spells Mardis Gras.

I'm wondering who makes these wreaths and why Selmians are decorating

 for the occasion! Several homes on Lapsley Street are decked out this year. 

Apparently, this isn't just a coastal thing anymore!

Notice the reflections of the sidewalk trees in the entry glass! That's decorative too!

I am "nominating" this house and yard as "King of Selma's Mardis Gras Decorations."

The people that own this house just know how to decorate, 

and I love this color blue for the gate and door decor.

ABC Wednesday, D for Decorated Door

D is the letter of the week over at ABC Wednesday,

and this decorated door perfectly fit the specs!

It's all dressed up for Mardi Gras, but even without the colorful additions,

that bright blue door sure catches my attention!

Mardi Gras Decor

I recently noticed more and more houses around town decorating for Mardis Gras. Since today is "Fat Tuesday," which is always the day before Ash Wednesday, here's my official Mardis Gras post from Selma.

The house is an English Tudor-style cottage with lots of landscape artistry to go with it. And why not? Its owner also owns Four Seasons Garden Center. This home will be open for tours during the Historic Selma Pilgrimage in March.
