Opening Next Week!

Opening night for the annual ArtsRevive Juried Art Exhibition and Sale

is coming up March 8, and it promises to be another great showing of works

from talented Alabama artists. The show will feature 130 pieces

from 260 submissions and 60 artists.

Held at Carneal ArtsRevive in an historic building

by the Alabama River, the show re-opens free to the public from 11-4

every Thursday - Saturday, March 13-29 and from 1-4 on Sunday, March 16.

Works include 3-D, photography, oil, acrylic, mixed media and works on paper.

Immaculate

It's "I" Week over at ABC Wednesday, and oh my, but isn't "Old Blue" IMMACULATE?

My photograph of this photograph doesn't do it justice, but this picture on canvas

won third place in photography in the ArtsRevive Juried Spring Art Exhibition.

The creative photographer is Andrew Swindle, a high school senior.

Selma is among the oldest cities in Alabama and has the largest contiguous historic district. It is known for its Civil War and Civil Rights history. The Battle of Selma was one of the last fought in the War Between the States, and the town was a center for the Voting Rights Movement in the 1960s. Today, with a population of about 20,000, Selma is the largest town in the western Black Belt region. The Black Belt, named for the color of its soil, stretches across Central Alabama from Mississippi to Georgia.
