Selma's St. Paul's Episcopal Church has a long and interesting history
that includes the 1865 Battle of Selma, Civil War generals,
seminarian and civil rights activist Jonathan Daniels,
Tiffany stained glass
and bricks from Alabama's first capital at Cahawba.
The church will be open for tour during next month's Historic Selma Pilgrimage.

what a history! love those bricks!
ReplyDeleteWonderful factual sign.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see the Tiffany stained glass!
ReplyDeleteIt's a very imposing church, feels quite enduring, and such a history. I'm particularly intrigued by General Johnston's membership.
ReplyDeleteLooking through the link on the Pilgrimage tour, it strikes me that the concept is rather similar to something we have here in the summer for a weekend, called Doors Open.
It's beautiful! I attend an Episcopal church here and we have a similar historical marker sitting in front of our old chapel.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love historic tours. And it doesn't look so wintry and snow-stormy where you are!
