Cotton in Central Alabama has almost finished blooming! You can't see the blooms very well as I took this photo through the window of a moving vehicle. But, notice the irrigation system in the background. We've had so much rain lately, I doubt it's been needed, but perhaps the equipment was used during those 100-degree days in June.
Interesting that you and D both have photos of irrigation systems today.

I once tried to pick a piece of cotton off a bush and very quickly found out that it was extremely prickly... I never tried that again:D
ReplyDeleteHi Pam. Those hulls are tough! I don't see how people used to stay in the field all day picking cotton. My father was the oldest of nine, and they all grew up picking cotton. We once planted some in a flower bed so that our boys could see what it was like!

Isn't cool how other people in the world have never seen it growing and here you are sharing this common sight with them for the first time? That is why I love CDP. You can learn so much on here!
