Petals of Purple

I see these purple flowers all over town and assume they grow wild. They don't seem to be "manicured" and are usually growing among honeysuckle vines or sidewalks and alleys that haven't met The Weed Eater yet. Does anyone know what they are?

Not sure what they are, but I think I have some in my backyard too!

We have those here too and I don't know what they are. They seem to pop up randomly. I think they are beautiful though!

I wish they'd pop up and color my yard.

It's a tradescantia virginica, which carries the unhappy common moniker of spiderwort.
I love them in a vase on my table with my Blue Willow plates

Thanks Kathleen, for checking these out. I have heard of spiderwort, and these are much too pretty for that name!

No idea, but they look nice and can cover up or hide bad spots.
