So...unlike folks in Mobile, Birmingham and Huntsville, I still get to start every morning
reading my hometown daily paper that is delivered to my house in real newsprint.
Not only that, but yesterday, when The Mobile Press-Register stopped daily publication
and cut its newsprint version to three times a week, I get to read the oldest daily
newspaper in Alabama! After 185 years, The Selma Times-Journal is still printing.

That's great, rub it in! Not only does your paper survive, but you also get to eat a delicious looking breakfast!
ReplyDeleteHaha!Yes, that is homemade sweet potato cake! BTW, I linked your blog about the Press-Register (click "yesterday") and added you to my list of Alabama blogs.
ReplyDeleteI hate what's happening to newspapers. I still get my daily!
ReplyDeleteStill a great way to start the day.
ReplyDeleteThat is exciting in this day and age ~ enjoy ^_^ ~ (A Creative Harbor)
ReplyDelete185 years is a wonderful accomplishment for your newspaper and I hope they continue to thrive!
ReplyDeletei love that, especially when newspapers aren't exactly thriving these days...keep it up selma!
ReplyDeletePeople in Huntsville are not too happy about the reduction in printed papers. I love the internet, but it is sad to see print going by the wayside. Hopefully, your paper will live many, many more decades.
