ABC Wednesday, M is for MOVIES

It's M Week, and we're going back to the MOVIES in Selma at the Walton Theatre,
now re-opened in the Striplin Performing Arts Centre.
No, "Blue Sky" isn't playing now, but it was filmed in Selma.
But yes, "The Hunger Games"was the feature film this past weekend.
It's no telling how many Selmians have mentioned how thankful they are
that they can watch a brand-new movie right here
and not have to drive to Prattville or Montgomery!

  1. I wonder how I missed this film; guess I'll have to find and rent it. Cannot imagine a locale without a movie, even tho I think that theaters eventually may become passé.

  2. When I was a kid we had a movie theatre at my school. Don't think it is used these days. I can't remember the last time I was at the movies. I download pretty much anything I want to see. Or watch it on the telly.

  3. Kate, I believe this movie was set to hit the theatres about the time of the first war with Iraq, so they canned it until much later since it is about a military family. They filmed a lot of this at the former Craig Air Force Base.

  4. How wonderful to have a local cinema - we have to travel MILES to our nearest one - so needless to say we never go. Hubby always says we'll watch it when it comes out on DVD - which we never do!

Great post - shows the diversity of our worlds.

  8. I love the movies, and the best place to see them is on the big screen. Happy Days.
