January at the Bridge

January has been colder than normal, and you can see wind-whipped whitecaps in the river near the Edmund Pettus Bridge.

  3. I imagine children sitting on a bench and looking at the river...but it is too cold.

  6. I love, love this photo of the bridge! I wonder what the view looks like upstream or downstream off the bridge? (hint, hint)

  7. Leif, glad you like this photo, because I understand the crepe myrtles in the park have since been cut in order to have a good view of the bridge from the Interpretive Center! I haven't been by there yet but will soon and will post the treeless photo. A photo of this spot in summer can be found on the July 15, 2007 post, and views of the river from the bridge are posted July 10 and 11, 2007 and Feb. 26, 2009. I'm sure I've posted more and will get back on the bridge soon, just for you!
    Thanks for your comments!

  8. Glad to report that the crepe myrtles in the park itself weren't removed, just the trees on the sidewalk. However, it is so strange not to see the trees there. Everything looks so bare.
