(Skywatch Friday) Whites Bluff

A blue sky, white bluffs and calm water combine to create a great day for cruising the Alabama River.
Whites Bluff is located about 25 miles downriver from Selma.

  1. Another beautiful scene! The cloud looks a little lonely though.

  2. How cool is that! When I first saw the photo I thought that it was a rock quarry. Very cool that you can see this from the river. Are there not any tales of Indian maidens throwing themselves from the top to avoid marrying someone icky? - Rachel

  3. No tales that I know of, Rachel, but Indians lived all along the river way back when, and this waterway was an "interstate" for early explorers and traders.

  6. Nice skywatch shot!

I finally did pull something out of the archives for today's theme. It was from around the same time we had the last graffiti theme day (March 2008).

  8. Trish, you might prefer the Cahaba River rather than the Alabama for kayaking unless you don't mind a lot of river traffic. Thanks for visiting!
