This is pear-picking season in Central Alabama, and oh my, won't these pears make delicious pear pickle or preserves or pies? In fact, they are mighty good eaten right off the tree!
I'm with Leif-- I love pears in salads! Maybe with chevre and toasted pecans. Mmmm... I think I know what I'm having for dinner tonight! And a pear tart for dessert!
EG, We had a pear tree in our yard while I was growing up. I can remember picking pears every year and then peeling them for pear pickle. It was also a great tree to climb.
Or sliced on a salad with feta cheese....
ReplyDeleteLeif hit it right on the nail but a pair tart would be good too. Nice shot!

ReplyDeletePears are one of my favorites. I like fresh peaches almost as much but pears are special.
ReplyDeleteNothing tastes as yummy as a pear fresh from the tree. Mmmm. Brings back childhood memories.

ReplyDeleteMaybe a mock apple pie? Happy picking.
ReplyDeleteYou're so lucky, pear pickin' season comes early in NW Florida. I hope you get to put some up.
