Sunny Summer Flower

This sunny, summer flower is one of many growing behind Dallas Academy, and I know they aren't common here.

Any gardeners know what these are called? I saw some in Texas many years ago, so I imagine they are drought tolerant.

Don't know the name but they sure are pretty! Amazing how the color changes abruptly.

I call it blanketflower but I know it has several other names. It's botanical name is Gaillardia or Gailardia - not sure of the spelling at the moment. It's such a pretty blossom!

The colours certainly complement one another...nature is truly amazing. Love the way the petals are edged.
