View Down the Fence Line

Here's the view down the ornamental fence line toward the Edmund Pettus Bridge. The fence is in an area known as Lafayette park, just off Grumbles Alley and near the rear of the St. James Hotel and The Restaurant on Grumbles Alley.

Notice how the kudzu has been cut back from the fence. Last summer, the kudzu was allowed to roam all the way to the ironwork.

Have they ever come up with any method of control of the kudzu vine? It seems like a total invasive pest. Someone once told me that they have no chemicals that will kill it. I don't know about that but it rings in my memory.

Hi Abraham, I'll have to check and let you know. I believe there is a chemical, but it takes several treatments over a long time. Best thing to do is get some goats.

Hi there, Texican!
How'd y'all weather the hurricane?

You are quite welcome to visit over here. The Black Belt is different from any other section of Alabama. In fact, I believe Texas has some Blackland Prairie. Now, of course, I only take pictures of the pretty parts!

Really like the ironwork , so lovely. Glad the keep the kudzu at bay. If you find out how you can control it pass it on. Abe's right. TOTALLY invasive .

Oh yes, we have the kudzu here too. I am always afraid when I leave for the weekend, I'll come back and find my whole yard taken over!
