Flyway (Skywatch Friday)

This is one photo I HEARD coming. Our house is on the direct route of the air ambulance from Birmingham. We hear the medical helicopter flying over as it heads to Vaughan Regional Medical Center. Later, we hear it flying back, transporting a critically ill patient to the larger, more specialized medical facilities in Alabama's largest city. Thankfully, we don't hear the helicopters often.
(Note: I am assuming this is one of the air ambulances. Due to the sun and the fact that this copter was directly over me, I didn't get to see the medical symbol on its side.)
Today is Skywatch Friday, so fly on over to Wiggers World for more sky views.

  1. Great photo! We don't hear many planes or helicopters overhead. Occassionally there will be a small plane flying, or the police helicopter, but that's rare.

  4. Quintarantino, I heard this copter in the distance, and knowing it flies right over my house...picked up the camera, then popped outside and waited about two seconds before it was right overhead. It's the skywatch photo I had been waiting to hear. But, it's not pleasant to plan for, knowing someone in the copter was very ill. One of my children was a copter patient just two years ago, and it's scary! But the ride in the sky sure saves precious time, and it saved my precious one, who is now fine.

  10. That's a marvelous shot. It must be something to hear that and be aware of all the need and all the helping out there.

  11. What a great shot this is.. I see many of these, some are mountain rescue, then the local Police one zooming over or hovering... and local business ones.

It sure made an interesting Sky Watch shot

  12. That is a nice shot! The cul-de-sac that we live on is the "landing pad" for medivac in our neighborhood. We see a lot of helicopters up close and personal! (which is GREAT because my hubby is a helicopter FANATIC!)

  13. Neat shot! :)
There are many helicopters over my head every day. They are flying out to the oil rigs in the North Sea. With workers.
