Who built that house and when?
These signs identify historic property and go along with the Selma-Dallas County Chamber of Commerce's Windshield Tour. They are available for sale from the Historic Preservation Society.
This sign belongs to the vine-covered cottage featured a few days ago.
These signs are a good idea. Its nice to have a brief history of a building.

ReplyDeleteIs that the little sign on Alabama Avenue? My grandaddy was born in 1890. He went to school in the old Smitherman building, which I think was called Selma Military Academy, at the time. I bet he saw that house when it was practically new.
ReplyDeleteI'm originally from Selma, but live in Dallas now. I love to look at these pictures because it helps with the homesickness. I just wanted to say that my mother painted that sign.

Hi Tonewah, your grandad probably did see this house practically new! This house, however, is on Church Street and facing Parkman Avenue. Bet you know where that is.
