Ginkgo in Winter

Here's a view of our ginkgo tree in the winter...when it snows once every several years.

  1. Wow - I had no idea it got cold enough to snow down there! Nice shot!

  2. Oh, it gets cold enough all right! It is just rare that we have precipitation and freezing temps at the same time. A good snowfall here requires a lot of moisture streaming up from the Gulf of Mexico colliding with a cold front from Canada. Usually, we just get a cold rain and maybe a few snow flurries, so this is a real historic event!

(in what concerns the picture I posted on Saturday, yes, I took it from the top of the «Padrão dos Descobrimentos», in Belém, Lisbon!!)

  4. That's beautiful! It also snowed a bit here on Saturday. But the sun came out in the afternoon and it all melted away. It was pretty while it lasted though.

  8. I didn't know Susan Pleshette died. That's what I get for staying on the computer instead of listening to the news.
    Enjoyed your snow pictures.

  10. You're getting great snow pics! I have blogged often about those storm warnings and blizzard warnings on my blog. It's great history to preserve those maps.
