Christmas may already be in the stores, but it isn't in the air or on the doors...yet! I found this "berry delightful" autumn wreath on a door in Selma's Old Town neighborhood. Our town does itself proud during Thanksgiving. There will be a community-wide Thanksgiving service Sunday night at First Presbyterian Church, and while Christmas decorations are up downtown, the lights won't be turned on til after next Thursday.
Restraint can add to the joyful anticipation of Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI was about to chide you for the Christmas wreath when I saw it on the portal. Silly me! It's a beautiful door, too, isn't it?
ReplyDeletevery nice! I'm laughing, though -- see my photo for today. :)
ReplyDeletevery beautiful, yeah stores and other establishments may have christmas decors but ours isnt up yet =)
ReplyDeleteGreat shot...but here in Canada we have already had our Thanksgiving in October but I always look forward to a bit of football on the fourth Thursday in November (even if I'm at work).
ReplyDeleteI was in Wal-Mart the other day and they were playing Christmas music. Please tell me that there has been a big calendric mistake and we actually have 6 months left in the year.

I do like this door! And I agree, Christmas music and decorations AFTER Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteThere was Christmas merchandise in the Wal-Mart here even before HALLOWEEN was over! Every holiday needs to get its own chance, especially Thanksgiving. I love turkey day!
ReplyDeleteWhat a treasure Selma's Old Town neighborhood must be!
