Central Alabama Farmers' Co-op

Whatever you need, this place probably has it! This is the Central Alabama Farmers' Co-op, and it would have made a great "The Color Red" theme day photo, huh? Anyhow, the co-op has flowers and seeds for your gardens, hardy outdoor work clothes, hunting clothes and equipment, horse supplies, dog pens, bird houses, lawnmowers, ag equipment, fencing, all kinds of feed, weed killers, and even boxes of frozen catfish fillets. If you want to have a meeting or a reception, check out the large conference room with a full kitchen and room for around 100. I've been to everything from barbecues to Valentine's banquets there, and I hear folks have used it for retirement parties and even wedding receptions.

  1. Yes, it would have made a great red theme day photo...but in it's own right is is so crisp and clear. Great job.

  2. Wow, it sure sounds like a one-stop place for all your needs. They don't have a restaurant or cafe as well? Sounds like they should... :-)

  3. Since the co-op is located at a major intersection on the edge of town, I think a restaurant would be nice!

  5. Thank you, Lewis. As a matter of fact, I am on my way to the co-op shortly. Glad you like the FilmLoop. Believe I need to do an autumn one too!

  6. It's amazing that there are still places like that, where you can find almost everything... Nice contrast to losing frog legs, shrimp, oysters and stuffed crab at the Fish Camp :(
Did you check the link to Jack Teagarden? I remember that because I'm heading to a Jazz concert tonight...
    Have a great weekend!

  7. Not many of those around Naples ;-)

And that "dog pens" line gave me pause - just one letter makes such a difference!

  8. Oh, Isabella, "dog pens" are all the rage around here! Cute little ink pens with paw print designs...NO, not really! but, haha on me! I did mean "dogpens," places where you can put the dog and not have to worry that he/she will will up the flowers, tear up the newspaper or bite the mailman!
    Thanks!

  9. Glad you liked the "Police accident" joke. Just hope they fix the gas main soon. I pitied the poor emergency labourer, down in the pit in hot weather wearing a full gas mask over his face, shoveling out. Two pipes fractured..8" main and 10" main by other workers who got the wrong spot!!

Love your all purpose store...long may these palces flourish

  10. As a midwestern farmer's grandchild, I rode along on numerous trips to a small town Co-op building. Most of them were to fill up a water truck used to deliver water to rural farm homes. Ahhh, the good old days. Thanks for the reminder of some pleasant childhood memories.

  11. It's nearly a community center! The place to be. I am sure I'd be there over and over again.
