Crawfish Boil


Crawfish, corn on the cob and new potatoes! It's not just for Cajuns. Some folks in Alabama eat it too! This batch was among the dishes at a wedding reception, but nearby Faunsdale has the annual Alabama Crawfish Festival every April, begun by...you guessed it...a native of Louisiana.

  1. This is beautiful, and it has the added attraction of being delicious and smelling good too. You made me realize I must get myself down to the next River festival here and shoot some cook. heh. It makes for a great shot and says something about the place.

  5. Crawfish don't look very appetizing, do they? I prefer shrimp sans heads. There are some farmed shrimp near here, grown in saltwater aquifers, I believe, from back when a sea covered the Black Belt. My kids used to find mussel shells while digging in their granddad's garden.

  6. The photo makes my mouth water. We have spot prawns in season at this time and can never get enough of a good thing.
