I think Selma shall never run out of fences for the Friday Fences blog hop,

 and many of these old iron works of art also serve as moss catchers,

 and that just adds to the southernness.

The Decorative Fence

The old, iron fences around town really lend a decorative touch,

 especially with a background of Spanish Moss and spring shrubs.

River and Roses

There are still a few pink roses blooming along the trellis and iron fence behind the St. James Hotel. While these are a hardy variety, I wonder how they will fare in temperatures in the teens. We'll soon find out!

Must be a Party!

A line of balloons along a fence in the Old Town neighborhood recently caught my eye. I'm "guessing" that someone was having a party!

The Shady Lane

This view of Alabama Avenue reminds me of the old song, "In the Good Ole Summertime." Here's the (somewhat) shady lane.

View Down the Fence Line

Here's the view down the ornamental fence line toward the Edmund Pettus Bridge. The fence is in an area known as Lafayette park, just off Grumbles Alley and near the rear of the St. James Hotel and The Restaurant on Grumbles Alley.

Notice how the kudzu has been cut back from the fence. Last summer, the kudzu was allowed to roam all the way to the ironwork.

Creeping Kudzu

I don't know if this iron fence is wrought or not, but it looks a bit rusty as well as close to getting wrapped in kudzu. The fence and kudzu are down by the river just off Water Avenue. Notice the trees that are also covered in the prolific vine.
